At the German Medical Institute (GMI), the Department of Medical Oncology is comprised of physicians, nurses, researchers, and other healthcare professionals specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with cancers. In addition to our patient-centred care, our physicians are actively participating in innovative cancer research, which includes clinical trials and the research for novel molecular biomarkers within the tissue and the blood. We believe that innovative clinical trials are offering novel treatment options for our patients with. The GMI medical oncologists play an important part in medical education by training the next generation of medical students.

The German Medical Institute (GMI) Medical Oncology service is devoted to specific and personalized treatments for solid tumors like chemotherapy, polychemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy. Our department offers out-patient services for emergencies and first-aid care to patients who might experience side-effects from their chemo, or other cancer treatments.

The Medical Oncology team at GMI will never offer a simple "one size fits all" approach to any patient. We strive to find the best solution for each of our patients, taking their specific case and diagnosis, their lifestyle and choices into account. Our Medical Oncology service is supported by the GMI paramedics team by offering psychological help, integrative oncology services (including yoga classes, and acupuncture) and a MI Patient Advocacy Program.
