As our services have now expanded in covering all benign conditions as well, GMI has invested in state of the art minimally invasive technologies for the treatment of urological conditions. We thrive to provide evidence based management of our patients with the least

possible hospital stay and best possible patient experience.

This website offers a tour regarding our services and an introduction to our Team of experts.

The Department

The newly founded GMI Department of Urology provides a wide range of Urological procedures for both benign and malignant conditions.

Lead by Dr. Petros Tsafrakidis with a background of almost 15 years of experience in the UK, we can provide state of the art diagnostic tests as well as innovative surgical procedures for the treatment of common urological conditions such as urinary tract stones, benign prostate enlargement, testicular pathology (testicular cancer, hydrocele, varicocele), bladder cancer, penile deformities and urethral strictures.

Our Centrer offers innovative procedures such as the REZUM (water vapour therapy) and GREEN LIGHT LASER VAPORIZATION of the prostate for the treatment of benign enlargement as well as stone disease.

We offer consultation for problems relevant to female incontinence (TVT / TOT slings), male penile curvature (Peyronie's disease) and erectile dysfunction as well as urethral strictures (scarring of the urethra) in order to discuss with you the diagnostic tests and explore the possibility of advanced graft surgery.

FAQs
The majority of the conditions that cause visible blood in the urine and some discomfort (frank haematuria) are benign. The commonest condition is a urinary infection. Other conditions may be a urinary stone, an enlarged prostate (not prostate cancer). However, painless blood in the urine may be a symptom of bladder cancer and in any occasion it cannot be neglected. An inspection of the bladder via the water pipe with a flexible scope (cystoscope) is necessary. Microscopic haematuria blood in the urine that is (not visible with the naked eye but it is confirmed with a urine test) is even more unlikely to be caused by cancer. Ask for an appointment with one of our specialists to discuss your condition and get evidence based advice.

The blood test called PSA is not a cancer test or a cancer marker. It is also affected by numerous benign conditions (infection, prostatitis, sexual intercourse, medications) and its interpretation may be a complicated matter. At the GMI, we offer a variety of tests to explore the reasons of its elevation. We are happy to discuss your concerns and answer your questions regarding this blood test.
